Object of study: N. Hvylevoy's works of art (narratives "Ivan Ivanovich" (1929), "Sentimental Story" (1928), short stories "Arabesques" (1927), "Introductory short story" (1923), "Life" (1922), "From Laboratory" (1931), "Colonies, villas..." (1923), "Mother" (1927), "Inspector" (1929), "Editor Kark" (1924) "Chumak's commune" (1923), short stories "Zaulok" (1923), "I (Romance)" (1924), "Room part 2" (1922), "Lilyuli" (1923), "On Lakes" (1923)) and A.Deblin's roman "Berlin. Aleksanderplats" (1929). Aim: exposure of general and distinctive structural components of "city text" in works of N. Hvylevoy and A. Deblinin in all aspects (ontological, cultural and historical, olfactornal, sound, topographic etc). Research Methods: analytical, biographical, comparative-typological, systemic-functional, cultural-mythological, sociological methods, as well as imalogycal and phenomenologycal approaches. Investigation Results, Novelty: for the first time it has been analysed "city text" of N. Hvylevoy and A. Deblin in comparative aspect; basic structural components of "city text" are exposed in the prose of N. Hvylevoy and A. Deblin; typological coincidences and differences in formation of appearance of city in prose of writers are found out; works of foreign researchers of "city text" which were not translated into the Ukrainian language are analysed (B.Yorges, L.Lapau, M.Muller, F. Henke). Sphere of Application: courses of history of Ukrainian and German literature of the beginning of the XX century, foreign literature, theory of literature critics, special courses of Ukrainian and German literature, comparative literature study, theory of literature at higher educational establishments.
