Essay

For the first time a complex research of foreign and Ukrainian stages of the publishing house "Smoloskyp", which reflects its formation and operation features, is conducted. The evolution of "Smoloskyp" is traced from magazine of Ukrainian youth to the publishing house that was founded by Ukrainian emigrant O. Zinkevych. The thesis deals with information, publishing, defense and "relief" lines of human rights activities of the center abroad. The research systematically analyzed organizational principles of "Smoloskyp", changes in typological and thematic-genre range of publications. The author grounds contribution of the publishing house to the popularization of authors of "Executed Renaissance", Sixties, whose works were banned and unavailable in the USSR. The thesis characterizes the influence of "Smoloskyp" competition for young writers to formation of literary generations of 1990s, 2000s, 2010s. The author considers publishing activity in a competitive market, which provides by efficient ways to promote books. The place of "Smoloskyp" in the history of Ukrainian publishing is determined on the basis of its foreign and Ukrainian experience
