Svichynska O. Improvement of the Models of the Passenger Route Choice in City Route Systems

The research object is the process of passenger route choice in the city route system. The research task is to improve the efficiency of operation of city public transport systems by means of the use of passenger route choice models for their enhancement. The methods used in the thesis are as follows: the analysis and deductive method, formalization, comparative approach, methods of probability theory and mathematical statistics, hypothetical and inductive methods were used, mathematical modelling and regression analysis. The results obtained in the thesis are the contribution to the theory of transport systems modelling and, specifically, to the methods of description of passenger preferences when they make the route choice at the expense of justified use of adequate models of the choice between types and routes of public transport or between the routes of the same type of public transport. Scientific novelty of the received results is that for the first time the quantitative and the probabilistic assessment of the rate of divergence between calculated and experimental route choice probabilities is given on the base of developed criterion of route choice models adequacy and duration of the survey, when conducting it by factual choice method, that will be sufficient for receiving the utility function for the public transport routes.
