Essay

The object is political violence as an integrated set of security methods of political struggle, which are used within the political relationships. The aim is to identify and study the key factors and mechanisms of transformation of the political violence in today's socio-political development and display of current laws and the main trends of this phenomenon in the short term. The methods are comparative, statistical, systemic, structural and functional. The Dissertation is devoted to the comprehensive analysis of reasons, mechanisms and trends of contemporary political violence transformation. The patterns and specifics of political violence use in terms of failed states, globalization, privatization, delegitimization and destruction of state monopoly of coercion were revealed. Mechanisms, reasons and sources of political violence transformation were classified in compliance with modernization theory, relative deprivation, rational choice, structural and institutional approaches. It was proven that in failed states circumstances political violence transformation is triggered off by official powers delegitimization as well as by economic and political crises. It was revealed that failed states lose their monopoly of legitimate coercion, control over own borders and territory while turning to regions of uncontrolled violence, terrorism and civil wars. Realization mechanisms of asymmetric forms of violence were studied in the process of political struggle. Axiological, coercive, ideological, mobilization, organizational, political, status making, and technological aspects of asymmetric strife between states and non-states actors of political violence were analyzed. Application sphere is domestic and foreign policy of the State Committee on National Security and Defence.
