Essay

110 patients with distal symmetric polyneuropathy against the ground of type 2 diabetes mellitus are examined with the detection of clinical manifestation and electric neuromyographic parameters of the peripheral nerves, indices of carbohydrate metabolism, pro- and antioxidant blood system, functional endothelial state depending on G894T gene polymorphism of endothelial NO-synthase. The efficacy of L-arginine administration is proved with the aim to correct oxidative-reduced homeostasis, optimization of endothelial function disorders, improvement of clinical manifestation of the disease and the peripheral nerves functional state in patients with distal symmetric polyneuropathy against type 2 diabetes mellitus.
