Essay

The paper presents a comprehensive description of the legal education in terms of its role at the present stage of nation-building in Ukraine. The author has formulated the objectives of legal education which include: 1) to create the prerequisites for the transition from external control over the legality to the self-control behavior which increases the efficiency of legal regulation, ensures the stability of the rule of law and reduces pressure on the legal infrastructure; 2) to promote citizen participation in the formulation of socially important decisions by spreading the values of self-expression; 3) to ensure the meaningful legitimation of positive law by bringing to the participants of social relations corresponding legal values and their perception through their sense of justice; 4) to promote the adoption of tolerance in society through the dissemination of knowledge about other cultures, ways of self-expression and individuality; 5) to approve the creation of prerequisites in society the rule of law as a fundamental element of its constitutional tradition; 6) to form the legal activity of the participants of public relations through internalization of legal values etc. The author summarizes the provisions of international instruments which definine the standards of legal education in the field of human rights and identifies the following elements: a) the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms; b) the full development of human person and human dignity; c) the promotion of understanding, tolerance, gender equality and tolerance in relations between the representatives of all nations, indigenous peoples and minorities; g) the providing all people to participate effectively in a free and democratic society in which the rule of law is realized; e) the development and maintenance of peace; e) the promoting sustainable development of the public interest and social justice. Particular attention is paid to the disclosure of the role of civil society in the approval of legal education.
