The dissertation is devoted to solving an actual scientific problem that consists in identifying dependence of the level of environmental hazard caused by discharge of mine water into surface reservoirs by coal industry enterprises on the complex of hydrochemical characteristics of water quality. The laws for changes in the level of environmental safety from the discharge of mine water into surface water ponds by coal industry enterprises according to complex hydrochemical parameters of its content are established. The technique for reducing environmental hazard from discharge of mine water polluted by suspended solids by their gravitational sedimentation in a horizontal settling tank of advanced design is elaborated. This technique allows increasing efficiency of mine water treatment from suspended solids that reduces the level of environmental hazard of its discharge into adjacent surface water ponds. The technique of calculating the basic structural and technological parameters of horizontal settling tank of improved design is elaborated. The two-dimensional CFD-model for optimization of the process parameters regarding mine water treatment from suspended solids in the proposed horizontal settling tank with consideration of its geometry and design features is developed.
