Object - fracture toughness of railway wheelset axle's material. Purpose - revealing the basic laws of operational factors on fatigue crack growth of the OSL steel and refinement of axle residual life assessment procedure considering structural and mechanical heterogeneity of material. Innovations - interrelation between shear lips height and impact toughness for axle's material was established; basic laws of mechanical properties gradient impact on fracture toughness of the OSL steel were revealed; procedure of residual lifetime assessment of a wheelset axle was improved taking into account the structural heterogeneity of the material. Implemented in The State Territorial and Sectorial Association "Lviv Railway".
