Essay

Object: works of Virgil ("Eclogues", "Georgics", "Aeneid"), poetry of Ovid, "The Divine Comedy" by Dante Alighieri, poems of Shakespeare, his dramas "Romeo and Juliet" and "Antony and Cleopatra". Aim: identify modifications of Eros mythologemes and detect common and different features of these transformations in the process of comparative reading of the Eros concepts in the works of ancient authors (Plato, Virgil, Ovid) and poets of modern times (Dante, Shakespeare). Research methods: comparative-historical with genetic and contact approaches, system-descriptive, comparative-typological, comparable-methodological, psychological, intertextual analysis. Results, novelty: first time in national comparative literary studies were systematized structural, thematic and ideological characteristics of Eros mythologemes in their interrelation as a complex phenomenon during a specified time interval; developed established notions about mythopoetic paradigm in ancient, medieval and renaissance literature; entered literary facts that have not been previously known to the national reader but also Ukrainian literary criticism. Areas of use: courses and special courses "Comparative literary studies", "History of World Literature".
