This thesis is on the complex research of theoretical and practical matters of the institute of justifiable defense in criminal law of Ukraine. The history of the institute of justifiable defense development and its trends and principles development in various political and socio-economic conditions were analyzed. The Thesis describes the research of the legal regulation of justifiable defense in foreign countries. It was determined the social and legal nature of the institute of justifiable defense as well as the theoretical and methodological research bases of the institute. .
