The concept of public safety has been determined; the content and nature of public safety have been studied. The basic threats to public safety have been established. The systems of research methods of combating crime in the sphere of public safety and criminological provision of the mechanism of this kind have been analyzed. The concept and structure of the mechanism for combating crime in the sphere of public safety have been defined. The ways and means of improving legislation on combating crime in the sphere of public safety, as well as the problems of international cooperation on combating crime in the sphere of public safety have been studied.
