Essay

Object: the fine arts market. The purpose: the fine arts market' formation, functioning and development in contemporary Ukrainian society. The methods of study: analysis and synthesis, deduction and analogy, induction, structural-functional approach, historical method, typological method, questionnaire survey, observation, interview; methods of the intellectual data analysis. Theoretical and practical results: theoretical and methodological basis of sociological research of the arts market have been grounded; there have been uncovered the characteristics of the artwork existence at the art market, which condition the market interactions specifics in the art field; there have been characterized the subjects of the art market, who are similarly the agents of the art field; the typology of the art consumers by motivation have been developed, and it sorts with the art field structure ("aesthetes", "collectioners", "investors"); commercial and non-commercial forms of the art consumption have been distinguished. Novelty: the detection of the tendencies, factors, social characteristics of the art market formation and development in contemporary Ukrainian society. Degree of implementation: the thesises of the dissertation have promoted and refined such disciplines as «Design in advertising and PR», «Sociology of economics» for the students of 3rd course specializing in «Advertisement and public relations» and the discipline «Sociology» for the students of the 2nd course of the sociology department of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
