Essay

Object: commercialization of higher education. Purpose: development of the conceptual foundations of a sociological study and prediction of the commercialization impact on the higher education system of Ukraine. Methods: analysis and synthesis, historical analysis, generalization and comparison, document analysis, systemic analysis, sociocultural analysis, standardized expert interviews, factor analysis, correlation analysis. Theoretical and practical results: backgrounds of the commercialization of Ukrainian system of higher education have been identified and systematized; three stages of emergence and development of higher education commercialization in Ukraine were offered and described; the main potential effects of commercialization in the sociocultural aspect of higher education in Ukraine have been identified and analyzed. Novelty: the conceptual foundations of the study of the commercialization process impact on the higher education system were developed, taking into account the sociocultural realities of the contemporary Ukrainian society. Degree of implementation: the statements of the research have been used in the development of the problem-oriented course "Sociology of Economics" for students of 3rd year and in the "Sociology" and "Sociology of Education" courses for the 2nd year students of the Scool of Sociology of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
