Object - tropes and stylistic figures in the media texts in the beginning of the XXI century. Purpose - analysis of the structure and semantics of tropes and stylistic figures of Ukrainian media texts, identification and characteristic of their expressive functions. Methods - observation, descriptive, quantitative and statistical, classification method. The thesis analyses the expressive potential of the corps of the stylistic means of modern Ukrainian media text. The research has been done on the material of Ukrainian language print and electronic periodicals for the years 2000-2015. The thesis offers the classification of stylistic means expressive functions, proves the influence of functions onto the process of recipient's perception of media text describes the structural and semantic features of tropes and figures, reveals a direct link between the implementation of expressive function and structural semantic organization of stylistic unit. It identifies the changes in the system of media, language arrangement of modern media text, including its stylistic shell. It supplements scientific data on the structure and semantics of stylistic means. Field - learning process.
