The thesis deals with the system research of populism. The evolution of populism have been analyzed. There have been defined the main approaches of its interpretation as well as peculiarities of application under different conditions. The author investigates populism as a political phenomenon that is typical for the most modern political regimes and depending on the circumstances it can interpret as a political movement, ideology, strategy or a special type of political activity, which is favourable for the transition, crisis and weak democratic societies.
