Essay

The thesis is devoted to researches of influence of different etiological factors on formation and course of epilepsies in children in order to improve diagnostic and treatment-preventive approaches. It was performed an examination of 172 children with different forms of epilepsies (the main group), 100 children who had not any epileptic attacks neither at the time of the study nor in their medical history (the control group), as well as their closest relatives (parents and sibs). Information about health conditions of 2998 relatives of the examined probands was investigated and analyzed. A significance of etiological factors in formation of symptomatic epilepsies during different age periods of onset of the disease was investigated. It was determined that EEG data from sibs is more informative from the point of view of a hereditary burden of epilepsies in comparison with EEG data form parents of the children with epilepsies. On the base of the data obtained the criteria of a high risk of formation of epilepsies in children were defined and preventive measures regarding formation of epilepsies were proposed. Conditions, under which a hereditary burden of epilepsies is a positive or negative factor for course of epilepsies in descendants, were determined.
