The research investigated the prerequisites of becoming medical insurance system in Ukraine in the early XX century. The research proposed a classification of legal prerequisites for medical insurance. The paper considered the historical and legal aspects of medical insurance in the early twentieth century. The paper identified the peculiarities of medical insurance in Central, Eastern and Western Ukraine.
