Essay

The thesis is devoted to the mechanisms of pathological changes in the salivary glands under the experimental obesity by modeling abdominal obesity and the introduction of monosodium glutamate. The point has been proved that the leading role in the development of pathological changes in tissues of salivary glands under abdominal and glutamate-induced obesity play disturbances in synthesis of proteins, decompensation of proteinase-inhibitory potential, disbalance of NO-ergic system, activation of oxidative stress, development of endotoxicosis, oppression of antioxidant systems. Morphological study of submandibular salivary glands of rats under glutamate-induced obesity confirms the development of pathological changes, as evidenced by vacuolar degeneration of acini sections, perivascular and periductal edema. It has been shown that under abdominal obesity there are degenerative processes in the acini and slight degenerative changes in the intralobular intercalated segments of rats' submandibular salivary glands.
