Processes of soil formation on the Zmiinyi Island as well as their geographic and genetic features and modern tendencies were studied. The general scheme and staging of soil formation on the solid siliceous rocks, the tendency to irreversible and progressive strengthening of chernozem properties and characteristics of soils in recent environment of the Island were established.
