Object - image as a socio-political phenomenon. The objective studying the basic characteristics of the image of local government in political and institutional context. Methods - systematic, structural and functional and others. The theoretical and practical results - practical rekomendations for local governments to create a positive image. The novelty - image made consideration of local governments as political and administrative institutions, the basis for the effective functioning of the acts which the balance between personalized and institutional components of the image; etc. proved that the image strategy will contribute to a better positioning of local governments provided the climate of trust institution based on democratic values and the correlation between the image of the local authority and image/brand specific locality. The rate of implementation consists in improving in the educational process of the courses of political science and local government. The scope of application covers social and political institutions, local authorities, in a research and educational activities.
