Bohdanova I. Suggestion Potential of Precedent Units in Ukrainian Media-Discourse of the Early 21st Century

The dissertation focuses on the research of precedent units' manipulative potential, their structural, typological and functional features in the Ukrainian media discourse of the XXI century. Precedent units are qualified as the means of indirect intertextual appeal to prototext (precedent phenomenon). The types of precedent phenomena are texts, personalities and situations. The types of precedent units are names and expressions. Precedent units are considered in the light of their manipulative potential, so they are the powerful tools of suggestion that forms the mindset of a reciepient of information. Author establishes the main suggestion tactics realized by means of precedent units, as well as counter-suggestion mechanisms.
