Essay

Modern state and trends of the usage of land resources in agriculture are analyzed. Established that soil degradation is now one of the most important industrial and environmental issues, which is the main reason for the inability to achieve high rates of environmental and economic efficiency of land use in the future. The method of determining public losses caused by land degradation based on the portion of capitalized rental income lost while reducing soil fertility at different stages of degradation, as well as costs related to restoring the fertility of disturbed and unproductive land was offered. It was also substantiated scientific and methodical approach to determining the economical efficiency of soil conservation measures in the current market conditions, which is based on the additional income that is received as a result of increase crop yields on protected lands.
