Sutormina K. Systemically important banks and their influence on the banking system stability

The dissertation is dedicated to research of theoretical and methodical frameworks of identification of the systemically important banks and substantiation of practical recommendations regarding improvement of instruments for banking regulation and estimation of the influence of the systemically important banks on the Ukrainian banking system stability. The author has generalized scientific approaches to defining the sense of a concept "systemically important bank" and formed criteria of the system importance of a bank. The author has extended the sense of a concept "banking system stability" and determined channels for transmission of risks in the activity of the systemically important banks. The author has systematized phases of a process of identification of the national systemically important banks and analyzed their activity within the context of the influence on the banking system stability. The dissertation contains procedures for identification of the systemically important banks of Ukraine, which have been developed by the author. The author has determined the cut off point for an integral figure of the system importance. The dissertation substantiates recommendations aimed at development and implementation of measures concerning regulation and supervision of the national systemically important banks for the purpose of risk absorption.
