Essay

There have been established peculiarities of the work of miners of main professions, causing development and progress of occupational sensorineural deafness (OSND). A contribution to scientific knowledge on the pathogenesis of OSND has been made, related to definition of peculiarities in developing this disease, with account of the level of affection of the auditory analyzer (peripheral and central departments) and its dependence on work conditions. The diagnostic efficiency of objective and subjective methods of examination has been defined, in order to reveal earlier manifestations of OSND in miners of main professions. Diagnostic criteria of disorders in peripheral and central (stem-brain, cortical and subcortical) departments of the auditory analyzer in OSND in miners have been defined.
