This dissertation work is dedicated to the search of new biologically active compounds among the derivatives of 4-thiosubstituted 5-formylimidazoles. With this goal preparatively convenient synthesis methods were developed and a series of [(5-formyl-1H-imidazole-4-yl)thio]alkane carboxylic acids derivatives was produced. Pharmacological screening of the produced compounds was performed and a high biological potential of derivatives of [(imidazole-4-yl)thio]acetic(propionic) acids was found; they are characterized by significant antioxidant, antimicrobial, antitubercular, and hypoglycemic activity
