Essay

The aim of the thesis is to study theoretical and methodological foundations as well as methodological approaches, and develop practical recommendations for statistical study of food consumption of the population of Ukraine and the formation of social policy. The object of the study is the patterns and trends in food consumption in Ukraine. The subject of research is theoretical and methodological foundations and methodological approaches to statistical study of food consumption of the population of Ukraine. Scientific novelty of the results is the justification of theoretical and methodological foundations and methodological approaches to statistical study of food consumption in Ukraine. Improved: - methodological approaches to information provision of statistical study of food consumption in Ukraine by offering special thematic questionnaire that enables the evaluation of food consumption of the poor; - methodological aspects of statistical study of food consumption of the population of Ukraine using integral estimation, which helped evaluate the regional consumption patterns; - statistical procedure for determining factors that have an impact on food consumption of the population of Ukraine using the method of main components, enabling the selection of the key factors of influence in statics and dynamics, and building the equation of determination of food consumption based on spending, and making predictive calculations; Acquired further development: - analysis of the results of research in the field of food consumption by the population that helped to reveal patterns of consumption at different stages of historical development of statistics of family budgets; - uses of the statistical classification of individual consumption, expanding information support of research related to food consumption by the population; - analytical approaches to statistical study of the socio-demographic structure of households and the level and differentiation of income and expense of Ukraine's population, allowing the formation of the system of factors that influence the level of food consumption by the population; - use cluster analysis method to study the food consumption of the population, that enabled the differential evaluation of the regions of Ukraine and development of an effective management framework of regional policy based on this indicator; - practical recommendations with respect to the organization of social protection system at the regional level, which enables the creation of conditions to meet social needs in food consumption.
