Essay

The study is devoted to assessment of association between intracardiac hemodynamic, adherence to the long term anticoagulation therapy, quality of life (QL) and silent cerebral infarctions (SCI). SCI were detected in 34,2% of patients with AF. AF is associated with SCI independently. Low left atrial appendage velocity <30 cm/sec, Sm <7 cm/s and LV wall motion abnormalities were associated with SCI equals or more 15 mm and Superficial SCI. Patients with AF have inadequate knowledge about anticoagulants, and those who use warfarin have inadequate adherence and control of anticoagulation. Anxiety, depression and decreased QL are common in patients with AF. Superficial SCI were associated significantly with the physical dimension of QL.
