Essay

The object of the study - the market square of historic towns and cities in Western Ukraine as architectural and urban complexes. The aim of the study is to find out the background and to determine the principles of regeneration for the market square of the historic towns and cities on the example of the Western region of Ukraine. A set of empirical and theoretical methods was implemented to perform the tasks implemented a set of empirical and theoretical methods. Theoretical models of regeneration market places of historical cities, including the complex model of the regeneration principles, the decision-making algorithm of regeneration are developed. The basic architectural and urban principles of regeneration are determined for the market squares of historic townes and cities on the example of Western region of Ukraine. The typology by the current state of the market squares preservation is defined. The architectural and urban typology of the object as well as the terminology and conceptual framework of restoration and architectural theory are specified. The theoretical and methodological problems of the historic architectural and urban environment regeneration have entered further development. The results of the research will be proposed for implementation in the educational process in the the Ukrainian higher educational institutions of the architectural profile, as well while designing the urban planning documentation for historic towns and cities, regional and local development programs, and in practical architectural and construction activity. The obtained in the thesis theoretical and practical results should be used in future historical, architectural and urban studies of the region.
