Essay

For the first time in Ukrainian religious studies the thesis has investigated interreligious and interfaith family and conjugal relations in Judaism, Christianity and Islam in the context of their religious legitimation and legal regulation with religious law and social customs of the Abrahamic religions. The author have analyzed the family models provided for in religious and customs laws which are classic for Orthodox Judaism and Islam HanafiteMadhhab and a religious model of Christian marriage, regulated by Orthodox and Catholic canon laws and the doctrinal provisions of Protestant churches. It has been proved that the main problems faced by a religiously mixed family is the communication with family members of different religions, the inability of common religious practices, and the most important is the question of religious affiliation and religious education of children. It has been found that the degree of the problematic existence of mixed marriages is correlated with the degree of differences in religious and legal models of the families in which the marriage partners were brought up. The author have found a philosophical and religious definition of the concepts such as an interreligious and an interfaith marriage. She have outlined the legal framework and the state guarantees provided by Ukraine to religiously mixed couples and their children. It has been proved that in the post-Soviet Ukraine and prevailed religious and social and demographic conditions for "free competition" models of different religious family models together with its secular models. The author have found religious and social reasons for a growing number of religiously mixed marriages appearing both in the world and in Ukraine, have analyzed the negative and positive effects of this global phenomenon for social and demographic and confessional situation in Ukrainian society.
