Hryshchenko O. Models of Urban Space in Modern Ukrainian Prose

The thesis deals with the investigation of urban space in modern Ukrainian prose, interpretation of the problems of historical memory, ideas of Europeanism etc. In the thesis the basic theoretical concepts are examined, the connection of literary analysis with anthropology, history, psychology, sociology are shown. The direction on active urbanization in Ukrainian literature most obvious is connected with the beginning of the twentieth century. The spatial organization of urban prose establishes and emphasizes the notions of openness, culture's development, importance of understanding with others, tolerance and respect for different traditions.
