The thesis is devoted to the research of debt release as a means of termination of obligations in Civil Law of Ukraine. The concept, the legal nature, the main features of debt release and the legal consequences of its application are determined in the research. The genesis of this way of obligations' termination is investigated. A comparative analysis of the debt release and other related institutions of obligation law is carried out. The basic criteria of distinguishing a debt release from a donation agreement are determined.
