This thesis resolves an up-to-date scientific task dealing with defining theoretical, historical and methodological grounds of state management ofthe regional development in Ukraine in the context of increasing competitiveness. The author has revealedthe trends of theory evolution of state management of regional development, defined the essence of the main categories, and summarized the world trends and national characteristics offorming regional competitiveness. A brand-oriented approach to state management of regional developmentbased on the adaptation of international experience has been proposed. A regional branding model has been created, targeted at the reinforcement of regional competitiveness positions and increasing its investment appeal. The object of the research issocial relations in the system of state management of regional development. The subject of the research is thetheoretical aspect ofstate management of the regional development in Ukraine in the context of increasing competitiveness.
