The thesis is devoted to the solution of important scientific task, which consists in the integration of medical aid for HIV/AIDS at the primary level of medical care. The functional-and-organizational model of integration of medical care for HIV/AIDS at the primary level of care is substantiated and developed on the base of the results of scientific research conducted. Prevention of HIV infection through acquiring safe behavior by population is the goal of measures proposed. Family is the central element in this section of family doctors' activity. Thus, in the whole it is proposed to include the following sections to general practitioner-family doctor's activity in providing medical care at HIV/AIDS: information and educational work on the problems of HIV/AIDS infection;voluntary pretest consulting; encouraging the population to agree to having medical care together with PEOPLE LIVING with HIV;taking the infants who are born by HIV-infected mothers to specialized health care institutions at the age of 18 months for determining HIV-status; providing general medical care to PEOPLE LIVING with HIV; directing the patients with positive express tests to specialized health care institutions for conducting serologic studies. Consistent solution to the priority problem of increasing the efficiency of prophylactic activity as for the reducing the prevalence of HIV/AIDS epidemic in Ukraine and improving the accessibility and quality of medical aid to HIV-positive patients and patients with AIDS in attracting the general practitioners/family doctors to the this process by raising their level of awareness for this issue is the key idea in achieving the goal determined.
