Object: prose, poetic, memoir legacy, the play "Son" of O. Smotrych. Aim: to explore the problems, find out the ideological and stylistic originality of the artistic heritage of O. Smotrych in the context of traditional and innovative. Practical value: The materials and the results of the research can be used at lectures and special courses on the history of Ukrainian literature, cultural studies, Ukrainian studies, history of Ukrainian journalism in universities, in textbooks and academic journals, bibliographic indexes. The worked up publications of O. Smotrych in Diaspora periodicals form the basis for the publication of the single book, and can also serve as a valuable source material for the compilers of the anthologies of the relevant thematic and genre areas.
