Essay

The thesis is devoted to study of the functional state of adrenal glands and its impact on the pathogenesis of hay fever. As a result, studies have shown that during the hay fever period cortisol production by the adrenal glands changes, which manifests itself in rhythm inversion — reduction of saliva cortisol morning level and increase of saliva cortisol evening level. The extent of changes grows with increasing severity of the disease and is observed both in exacerbation and remission periods of the disease. The functional state of adrenal glands during pollinosis displays in fact an index of correlation between morning and evening levels of free saliva cortisol, which was reduced by different course of disease and in both its phases. All patients had major tensions of regulatory systems and the mobilization of adaptive mechanisms with increasing severity of the disease. Ob-tained data suggest the relative stability of the adaptive organism response with light and medium course and tension of compensatory-adaptive mechanisms in severe course of hay fever.
