The thesis is analyzes formation and development of methods of teashing history in Ukrainian schools and gymnasiums in Galicia, identifies periods and tendencies in the development of the given problem during the 2nd half of the nineteenth century and in 1930's.Periodization is used in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations on education, teaching and upbringing, theory and methodology of teaching history in Ukrainian schools in Galicia, gained experience and best practices on this issue. The author defines structural components of the content of historical education, highlights the main directions of its formation for Ukrainian schools in Galicia, analyzes curricula and describes the history textbooks of the period. The study determines the forms, methods and means of teaching history in Ukrainian schools in Galicia. The leading form of education in those schools was the lecture as a history lesson. It is associated with monologic methods of presentation of educational material; surveys and interviews (dialogue, discussion). In the framework of a single lecture (lesson) learning system co-existed various educational forms. Important were trips, walks around places of his native land or country walks.
