Assessed the potential of the natural resources, socio-demographic and labor resource of rural areas Ivano-Frankivsk oblast from the point of view of using it to realize the sustainable development of rural areas. Proposed the use of indexes for assessing the economic, social and environmental components of sustainable development, and the integral index of potential sustainable rural development, the formula for calculating them. Substantiated the ways of implementation the sustainable rural development within the taxonomic natural-agricultural areas.
