Essay

The thesis deals with the problem of obstetric and perinatal complications that occur with pregnant women with HIV-associated tuberculosis, as well as the prospects for their prevention and the organization of treatment for HIV-positive women, depending on the presence and activity of tuberculosis. The high incidence of obstetric and perinatal complications and the cases of maternal and perinatal mortality among HIV-infected women with active tuberculosis have been specified. The study has identified risk factors for tuberculosis in an HIV-infected pregnant woman, upon which the questionnaire of an HIV-infected pregnant woman has been developed for identifying the women, who are at high risk of catching tuberculosis during pregnancy. Moreover, the algorithms of surveillance of HIV-infected pregnant women, patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis, and HIV-infected pregnant women, whose pregnancy had occurred against the background of residual changes of earlier tuberculosis, have been developed. The medical and preventive method for surveillance of pregnancy in HIV-infected women with residual changes of earlier tuberculosis, the application of which would reduce the incidence of obstetric and perinatal complications, have been developed and implemented.
