Essay

The object of the study is objective and architectural environment premises, buildings and systems libraries Ukrainian and foreign universities. The purpose of research is to develop architectural and typological principles and methods for renovating libraries of higher education establishments in Ukraine. For realization of tasks used a set of theoretical and empirical methods. Systematized experience designing, building and renovation of libraries of higher education establishments in Ukraine and abroad; the basic stages of the premises of libraries of higher education in Ukraine; defined characteristic architectural features of a modern university library. The investigation of the architectural spaces historic stages of Ukrainian higher school libraries as well as the analysis of a library world design made it possible to distinguish the impact of the main factors on the forming the functional and design solutions concerned the library buildings, premises and complexes. According to the results of natural observation and questionnaire survey it has been determined the degree of the Ukrainian higher school libraries relevance to the up-to-date criteria of design, the needs of the stuff and users and the major functional elements of a volumetric and design structure of a modern library. The three basic groups of the renovation architectural and typological principles of Ukrainian higher school libraries have been developed in the work. The results obtained in the thesis theoretical and practical results should be used in the preparation of new methodological documents library and developing new state building standards for the design and renovation of libraries; in the educational process of higher educational institutions architectural direction; in subsequent research scientists in the field of architecture and library.
