Essay

The thesis is devoted to the works of nineteenth century Ukrainian writer Pavlo Biletskyi-Nosenko. The paper presents some striking features of his literary works, including borrowing, innovation, experimentation, complexity, etc., and their implementation are shown through his still unpublished manuscript works, such as "Efess Widow…", "Zhokond…", "One Hundred Fables…", and "Zynovii Bohdan Khmelnitskyi…". Several contes were researched as examples of a special kind of genre, specifically those that gravitated the most to the original source and do not include national markers - folk elements, names, descriptions, traditions, etc., but marked striking features of rococo. The works included the collection of "One Hundred Fables…", which can be considered as a kind of insight into P. Biletskyi-Nosenko's literary works because both the external and internal aspects relate different aspects of the parable genre. P. Biletskyi-Nosenko's novel "Zynoviy Bogdan Khmelnitskyy…" has innovative features. It is a historical novel which studied the Ukrainian national-liberation struggle led by Bohdan Khmelnytskyy. The main content of the thesis is based entirely on archived materials.
