Dissertation is dedicated to research of judicial proceedings and resolving civil legal disputes, complicated by a foreign element. In this article investigated general theoretic bases of lawsuit proceeding in civil cases with a foreign element; a concept, general description and types of foreign element in the civil legal proceeding of Ukraine are exposed; clarified the legal grounds and principles for determining the jurisdiction of civil disputes with a foreign element; the legal basis determination of the substantive law that should be applied in resolving disputes with a foreign element; investigated the concept and essence of lawsuit proceedings in civil cases with a foreign element.
