The rate, structure and dynamics of committing crimes against life and health in closed-type penitentiary institutions, its reasons and conditions are found out. The specific features of convicts who commit crimes against life and health in closed-type penitentiary institutions, as well as the victims of these crimes are established. The system of prevention of crimes against life and health in closed-type penitentiary institutions is proposed, proposals to improve the current legislation and recommendations to improve the effectiveness of closed-type penitentiary institutions activity in this area are formulated.
