Essay

The thesis researches the development of senior pupils’ critical thinking at Ukrainian literature lesson. The paper analyzes the native and foreign scholars’ works on the subject, the meaning of "critical thinking" was analyzed in philosophical, psychological and pedagogical literature, the basic approaches of the development of critical thinking were determined, theoretical reasoning of its own methods with its main characteristics was given, the peculiarities of the development of senior pupils’ thinking are highlighted. The author’s method was developed for senior pupils, because age capabilities, outlook features and the partially formed abilities to work with a text provide the necessary conditions for the development of high-level thinking. The system pilot lessons conclusively confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed dissertation methods of critical thinking. Senior pupils improved ability to work with texts, analyze events, actions of actors establish causal relationships, compare images, works, genres, literary trends, make generalizations. It was experimentally proved that the technique of the development of senior pupils’ critical thinking at Ukrainian literature lesson was effective and deserves to be disseminated.
