Essay

Thesis is devoted to the study of nomination process within a holistic conceptual field "Human" on the basis of the modern Pokuttia-Bukovyna dialects. The composition of conceptual field is outlined; variability, structure and genesis of names are revealed. The patterns of nomination in dialectal speech are identified. Special attention is paid to the names that have not been recorded in lexicographic sources. The paper introduces the variation of nominative units for expressing basic concepts in lingvogeographic projection. The tendencies of lexical spatial variation within researched area are defined. Some cross-language motivational parallels and areas of lexical spreading in contact and distant Ukrainian dialects are determined. The localization of borrowed Eastern Romance names is found out both in microzone of frontal contacts and dialects with mixed population and outside the direct Ukrainian and Eastern Romance contact. The thesis outlines zones of spreading of researched dialectal lexical units.
