Essay

This research focuses on revealing specific features of the idiodiscourse of F.Kafka via coherence as its content integrity. It is claimed that coherence is the main textual and discourse category of F. Kafka's idiodiscourse. It has been proved that textual markers comprise phonetic devices (alliteration, assonance, rhythm and melody of the prose, exclamations, onomatopoeia), morphological and syntactical means include author's lexical neologisms, special word order in the sentence, extra-long syndetic and asyndetic constructions; lexical and semantic markers - narrowing of the lexical meaning, lexical repetitions, tropes, phraseologisms. Discourse markers - are narrative markers, embodied in compositional-speech forms. The author's selection of the compositional-speech forms in which the character's speech is represented, depends on the level of the narrator's emotional tension. The discourse situation "desire-realization" is embodied in different compositional-speech forms by means of the subjunctive mood. It is claimed that different types of free indirect speech constitute the narrative structure of F. Kafka's idiodiscourse. It has been established that textual and discourse markers of coherence, used by the author, construct coherent idiodiscourse in the consciousness of the reader. Key words: idiodiscourse, discourse markers of coherence, compositional-speech forms, free indirect speech, subjunctive mood, textual markers of coherence.
