Essay

The detailed description of prepositional substantival complexes with locative and temporal semantics in the written records of Ukrainian language of 17th - 18th centuries from Eastern Polissia is given in the dissertation work. The main distinctive features of the categories of locativity and temporality are determined. The linguistic status of the prepositional substantival complex as the important means for realization of the locative and temporal semantics is substantiated. Also the researcher determined the established using of analyzed units in the ancient Ukrainian texts. Based on the idea of locative and temporal identification, the main types of locative and temporal prepositional substantival complexes are defined, each one of them displays the specifics of structure and semantics, which are represented in the structural models. According to the structural features of the analyzed units and their usage in the written records the author proposed her own classification.
