Tykha T. The Phenomenon of Gothic Literature in Germany in the Epoch of Romanticism.

The object of the research is the Gothic works by German writers G. A. Buerger, L. Uhland, J. von Eichendorff, J. A. Apel, J. P. Hebel, H. Zschokke, A. von Arnim, L. Tieck, E. T. A. Hoffmann, W. Hauff, Ch. H. Spiess, S. Albrecht, J. A. Gleich. The thesis is devoted to the research of artistic-aesthetic, philosophic-ethical and artistic-ontological layers and of the German Gothic literature at the end of the 18th century up to the first third of the 19th century. The comparative-typological method, the method of structural-semantic analysis, hermeneutical method and intertextual method have been used. The conclusions about the literary representation of the Gothic-romantic worldview in different genres - poetry, short story, novel have been drawn. The thesis sheds light on the broad spectrum of Gothic mythologems created by German Romantics while equally examining the specific artistic means which transpose the plot in the sphere of irrational thereby illustrating the connection between the German and the European tradition of literary Gothic in the Romantic era. The sphere of application is educational process.
