The thesis is devoted the development of science-based ways to improve regulation and organization of isolation sentenced to imprisonment for a fixed term in penal colonies. Based on a comprehensive analysis of scientific literature, empirical materials, and international and foreign practice of isolation of application the dissertation defined the concept, content and main features of isolation of convicts, analyzes of scientific development and the historical experience of its application. Defined the features of the international legal regulation of isolation of prisoners and the international experience of its application. Based on the analysis formulated the main directions of improving the isolation of persons sentenced to imprisonment for a fixed term.
