Goroshkin I. Linguodidactic foundations for forming the linguistic personality of a future translator in the process of the Ukrainian language teaching.

This thesis represents a theoretical-and-experimental study on the issue of forming the linguistic personality of a future translator. In the thesis the content of the concept "linguistic personality of a future translator" is construed; the psycholinguistic and linguodidactic foundations are substantiated, methods for forming the linguistic personality of a future translator are elaborated. Translation competence is determined as an indicator of maturity of the linguistic personality of a future translator, the content component of available instruction materials for teaching Ukrainian aimed at forming translation competence of future specialists at higher educational establishments is analyzed, the maturity level of translation competence of future translators within the framework of higher educational institutions is defined. The development of the pilot teaching programme was based on the assumption that work on forming the linguistic personality of a future translator can prove efficient on the following conditions: introduction of interdisciplinary integration into the language training process; systemic topical representation of socio-cultural information; working out a system of exercises and tasks aiming at improving a language sense, language intuition and linguistic creativity of future translators. The results of the experiment confirmed the effectiveness of the suggested methodology for forming the linguistic personality of a future translator.
