Object - Ukrainian prose texts written in Polish in the second half of the 17th century, works by leading representatives of Ukrainian Baroque, in particular Lazar Baranovych, Ioanykii Haliatovskyi, Dymytrii Tuptala, Stefan Yavorskyi etc.; aim - to describe and interpret the works written in Polish by Lazar Baranovych and his circle of writers in the context of Ukrainian literary Baroque; methods - descriptive, comparative, structural-semantic, cultural-historical, biographical, mythological; novelty - for the first time prose written in Polish in the second half of the 17th century is studied systematically on the background of Ukrainian literary Baroque; Lazar Baranovych's individual features of creativity as well as the other writers' are singled out; problem-thematic and ideological-artistic analysis of prose written in Polish by the writers of Chernihiv group is made; genre and style peculiarities of polemical works are traced; the place and importance of writers' creative heritage in the literary process of that time are identified; results - materials can be used in the further study of Lazar Baranovych's and the writers' oeuvre, as material for teaching university courses of Ukrainian 17th century literature, electives in Philology faculties, as well as composing university textbooks for students of humanities, in course and diploma papers and master's theses; field - philology.
